  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 2 cups peeled, diced apples
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 apple, peeled and finely diced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch baking pan.
  2. In one bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla and sour cream.
  3. Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients until just mixed. Fold in diced apples.
  4. Pour batter into the greased pan and sprinkle crumb topping over it.
  5. Bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool before serving.
  6. For the drizzle: Cook diced apples with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and water until soft.
