Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup browned butter
  • 1 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples (sautéed)
  • 6 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, sauté the chopped apples with a tablespoon of butter and cinnamon until tender (about 10 minutes). Allow to cool.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together browned butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Gradually add to the wet ingredients and fold in cooled apples.
  5. Pour batter into a greased baking pan (8×8 or 9×9 inch) and bake at 350°F for about 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. For the frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar, cinnamon, and maple syrup until fluffy.
  7. Once blondies are completely cool, frost them evenly before cutting into squares.
