Ingredients

Scale
  • 250 g flour
  • 125 g cold butter, cubed
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 apples, peeled and chopped
  • 20 g sugar
  • 10 g butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla or cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 apples, thinly sliced
  • 10 g melted butter
  • 1 tbsp apricot jam (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pâte sucrée: In a bowl, mix flour and powdered sugar. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly. Incorporate egg and salt; knead gently until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Make the compote: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add chopped apples and sugar; cook until soft (about 10 minutes). Optionally stir in vanilla or cinnamon.
  3. Assemble the tart: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll out chilled dough to fit the tart pan. Press into the pan, trim excess dough, and spread apple compote evenly over crust.
  4. Add apple slices: Arrange thinly sliced apples on top of the compote in overlapping circles. Brush with melted butter.
  5. Bake: Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
