  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl until combined.
  2. Add cold cubed butter and blend until crumbly using your fingers or a pastry cutter.
  3. Incorporate cold water and vanilla extract gently until a dough forms.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  5. Roll out the chilled dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface.
  6. Fold the dough into thirds like a letter, then roll out again into a rectangle.
  7. Repeat the folding and rolling process two more times for maximum flakiness.
  8. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Cut the layered dough into triangles, placing chocolate chips at the base of each triangle.
  10. Roll each triangle tightly from base to tip to form croissants.
  11. Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
