  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 slices of crusty bread (like ciabatta or sourdough)
  • 2 cups romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1/4 cup additional grated Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: sliced tomatoes
  • Optional: crispy Turkey Bacon

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken in buttermilk for at least 1 hour.
  2. Mix flour with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish.
  3. Dredge marinated chicken in the flour mixture and set aside.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry chicken for 5–7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp: 165°F/75°C). Drain excess oil on paper towels.
  6. Whisk together mayonnaise, lemon juice, minced garlic, and Parmesan cheese for the dressing.
  7. Toast crusty bread until golden brown.
  8. Assemble sandwiches by spreading dressing on toasted bread, layering romaine lettuce and fried chicken, then topping with more cheese before adding the second slice of bread.
