  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 packet instant dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ¼ cups cold unsalted butter, cut into slices
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 bars sweetened chocolate

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, water, milk, sugar, salt, yeast, and softened butter until mixed.
  2. Knead gently until a ball forms, cover with plastic wrap, and chill for one hour.
  3. Prepare the cold butter layer on parchment paper; flatten it into a square and refrigerate.
  4. Roll out the dough into quadrants; enclose the butter layer inside.
  5. Seal seams by rolling out the layered dough and chill again.
  6. Create turns in the dough by rolling out and folding; repeat three times with chilling between turns.
  7. After final turn, refrigerate overnight.
  8. Roll out the dough for shaping croissants; fill each rectangle with chocolate and roll tightly.
  9. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
