Ingredients

Scale
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ⅔ cup whole milk
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • ⅓ cup melted butter (cooled)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ tsp vegetable oil (for frying)
  • For the glaze: 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 1¼ cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 tsp honey
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. In another bowl, mix melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla until blended. Gradually add wet ingredients to dry until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 90 minutes or until doubled in size.
  3. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Brush with vegetable oil and sprinkle with cinnamon. Roll tightly into a log shape and cut into approximately 14 pieces. Place on a greased baking sheet.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat (about 350°F). Fry each bun until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes per side), then drain on paper towels.
  5. To prepare the glaze, whisk melted butter, powdered sugar, milk, honey, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm buns before serving.
