  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 apples
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling by tossing chopped apples with lemon juice. Cook in a saucepan with butter until softened, then add sugar and cinnamon. Cool completely.
  2. For the crust, mix flour and icing sugar; rub in cold butter until crumbly. Add egg and milk to form dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out dough to ¼-inch thickness; cut into apple shapes. Place filling on each base, seal edges with egg wash, and add lattice strips.
  4. Freeze assembled pies for 15 minutes before baking for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
