  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 medium yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix panko bread crumbs with milk until fully soaked.
  3. Sauté diced onion in melted butter until fragrant; add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Allow to cool.
  4. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, soaked bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and cooled onion mixture. Mix gently.
  5. Shape into a loaf on the prepared baking sheet and score the top with a knife.
  6. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes while mixing sauce ingredients in another bowl.
  7. After 40 minutes, spread the sauce over the meatloaf and continue baking for an additional 30-35 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F.
