  • 56 firm apples (Golden or Braeburn)
  • 100 g butter
  • 120 g sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 roll of puff pastry

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Peel, core, and quarter the apples.
  3. In an ovenproof pan, melt butter and sugar over medium heat until golden caramel forms; add vanilla and salt.
  4. Arrange quartered apples tightly in the caramel and cook for 10–15 minutes until lightly tender.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry and cover the apples, tucking edges inside the pan.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
  7. Let cool for 5 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
